FRIDAY NIGHT SHUL HOP & DINNER

Come out with YPK for a lovely Friday evening Shabbat service at Etz Hayim synagogue. Etz Hayim is a Conservative synagogue on Rte. 50 in Arlington , VA, with a relaxing atmosphere and friendly membership. After the service, a venue for dinner will be chosen by YPK shul hop participants.

URBAN HIKE AROUND THE NATIONAL MALL

Come out with your YPK friends for a hike and picnic on the National Mall. We'll be walking along the National Mall, seeing the sights, including the U.S. Capitol, the White House, and the Washington Monument, and enjoying a picnic afterwards. Bring comfortable shoes, lunch, water, and a sense of adventure!

Come enjoy a Passover Seder with YPK on Saturday, April 26. Whether you're a Seder pro or a first-timer, this one will be interesting and fun! Who knows, you might even get lucky and win the Afikomen prize. The dinner will be a dairy/parve Passover meal. Due to space restrictions, only a limited number of RSVPs can be accepted, so respond early! Then let us know what favorite Passover dish you’d like to bring to the Potluck Seder. Also, please let us know if you can volunteer to help with pre-Seder setup or post-Seder cleanup. Chag Pesach Sameach! (Happy Passover!)

POST-PASSOVER PIZZA PARTY

Now that the Seders have come and gone, join friends new and old for YPK's 5th Annual Post Passover Pizza Party! Come one, come all to our annual Purim Party! We're looking forward to another great time with costumes, the always-entertaining Purim Spiel, and of course, hamentashen. We'll be putting on the annual YPK Purim Spiel and giving prizes for the best costume, so come dressed to impress! Last year's favorites included Harry Potter, a queen bee, and an, um, alternative Haman. Admission is waived if you are joining YPK as a new member ($18 single or $30 couple). Purim is one of the biggest parties on the Jewish calendar- come on by, see old friends and meet some new ones!

PREPARE LIFE-SAVING TREATMENTS FOR CHILDREN

Oral rehydration therapy (ORT) is a simple, cheap, and effective treatment for diarrhea-related dehydration, the leading cause of death for children in Third World countries. Between 1980 and 2000, ORT decreased the number of children under five dying of diarrhea from 4.6 million worldwide to 1.8 million -- a 60% reduction. This is a fun and incredibly easy activity that will make a real difference. The packets we prepare will ultimately be distributed by UNICEF to children in over 60 developing countries.
